Ocean Blue Properties is a locally owned and managed estate agency based in the heart of the South African Western Cape Biosphere (in Pringle Bay). We specialize in coastal property in this stunning area. With many years of experience in the area we offer by far the broadest selection and the most negotiable commissions in the region.
The Pringle Bay estate agency market is very competitive, with the large companies such as Pam Golding, Seeff Properties and Rawson having a presence here. In addition there are a selection of smaller agencies, Martie Kotze, Country and Coast and Pringle Bay Properties. Ocean Blue Properties competitive niche is value in terms of commission (to both the buyer and seller) and targeted marketing (more specifically for the seller).
Although South African real estate is currently experiencing a buyers market we have yet (in Pringle Bay or Betty's Bay) to see fire-sale prices due to the beauty of the area and the socioeconomic profile of property owners.

Pringle Bay Main Swimming Beach Pringle Bay's main swimming beach is approximately 2 kilometers long and covered with fine white sand. With a north west aspect throughout the year the beautiful sunsets complete the scene. Towards the north one can see the Cape Peninsular on the far side of False Bay. When conditions suit surfers and body borders come to the bay. In season Right Whales also feature. The water temperature is usually cool... |

View of Pringle Point from the Hangklip The Hangklip Mountain (c.800metres ASL) occurs at the western extremity of False Bay. Pringle Bay point is a peninsular jutting out into Pringle/False Bay, with coastline composing rock directly onto the sea. This area has stunning seaward views and is a ten minute walk to the beach. A trek up the Hangklip mountain takes a couple of hours but check the weather because high winds can make the walk impossible. |
Abalone or Perlemoen The Cape coast is a natural habitat of Abalone, know in South Africa as 'Perlemoen' (the latinate is Haliotis rufescens). Perlemoen stock are now protected and cannot be harvested. The fines for illegal harvesting are high but the scale corruption of corruption and demand from Chinese consumers make protection problematic. You can get abalone from licensed sellers. |

Land Based Right Whale Viewing The Right Whale (the latinate is Eubalaena australis) frequents Western Cape waters between November and June. Once harvested the whales now frequent the area in some numbers and can be viewed with ease from land. There are several favorite areas- the R44 (Clarence Drive Road) will most likely offer sightings of both whale and large dolphin pods. |
Local Baboon Troops Pringle Bay (and indeed most of the surrounding areas) has its own Chacma Baboons (the latinate is Papio ursinus) who are very active co-habitants. The baboons are frequently seen all over town, in the surrounding mountains and occasionally on the beach. Visitors should under no circumstances feed them- the best approach is to observe without interfering in any way! |
|
Penguins and Sea Otters Betty's Bay has its own Jackass Penguins (the latinate name is Spheniscus demersus), one of the few land based penguin colonies in continental Africa. The penguins can be found by following sign posts from the R44 in Betty's Bay. The Sea Otter (Aonyx capensis) is also present in the area- this one was photographed recently near Cape Hangklip. |
